چکیده

The Bulgarian Black Sea coastal zone is relatively protected from sea floods. Only extreme meteorological events such as unusual storms can cause flooding of areas. Crucial for the application rapid methods vulnerability assessment plant communities caused by over Coast to obtain experimental data water flood resilience. This study aims determine species survival in simulated experiments order identify resilience five with conservation status: Centaurea arenaria M. Bieb. ex Willd., Crambe tataria Sebeok, Aurinia uechtritziana (Bornm.) Cullen & Dudley, Silene thymifolia Sm., and Stachys maritima Gouan. As a result experiment, Critical Decomposition Time (CDT) was obtained. were within most vulnerable group (CDT < 48 h). CDT significantly shorter than floods maximum duration Coast. values parameter beginning decomposition leaves accelerated higher temperatures. Other parameters unrelated different investigated have low rates degree their will not be able recover after one vegetation season.

Status of the Black Sea Flood Hypothesis

Exploration of the Black Sea shelf reveals two major shelf-crossing unconformities. The older unconformity separates mostly-barren deposits of late glacial age from overlying Neoeuxinian sediment containing fresh to brackish fauna. This unconformity can be traced over the shelf edge to depths beyond –140 m. The substrate below is dry, firm, and contains unchallenged evidence of subaerial exposu...

Fatty acids composition of macroalgae from Bulgarian Black Sea coast

Lipids and fatty acids (FA) composition of three Black Sea macroalgae Cladophora vagabunda, Ceramium rubrum and Cystoseira barbata were studied. Fatty acids composition was analyzed by GC/MS. Total lipids content varied widely among the species and ranged between 0.66 and 0.98 g per 100 g fresh weight. Generally, saturated fatty acids were major components (62–71%), with 16:0 as the most abunda...

Major Bloom Producing Phytoplankton Species in the Lakes along the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast

PETROVA, D., 2008. Major bloom producing phytoplankton species in the lakes along the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast. Bulg. J. Agric. Sci.; 14: 201-208 Archive data analysis shows that during the different periods of anthropogenic impact phytoplankton production reaches pathologically high levels. Thus, phytoplankton is assumed as an indicator of marine water quality and ecological health. Its long-...

Lipophylic compounds from Euphorbia peplis L.--a halophytic plant from the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.

The chemical composition of the lipophylic fraction from the halophytic plant Euphorbia peplis L. was investigated. Compared to other terrestrial higher plants an increase of triacylglycerols and especially of glycolipids was observed. The main phospholipid was phosphatidyl choline, followed by almost equal concentrations of phosphatidyl ethanolamine and phosphatidyl glycerol. A relatively high...

The contamination status of trace metals in Sinop coast of the Black Sea, Turkey

The concentrations of some heavy metals in sediment from the Sinop coasts of the Black Sea were measured to monitor metal pollution in 2013. The distribution of the heavy metals in sediments of the Black Sea shows a variable pattern. The objectives of the present study were to elucidate the distribution heavy metals such as Cu, Pb, Zn, Ni, Mn, Fe, As, Cd, Cr, Hg and Co in sediment from Sinop co...
